Indi Ash create extremely thoughtful garments, employing a variety of traditional manufacturing techniques and reinvesting profit into the artisans responsible for their production, as well as the communities they live in. From hand-weaving to hand-knitting, traditional dyeing methods, and atelier-style production, they work to create truly unique and beautiful pieces that highlight the skill and history of the craftspeople who make them.
Inspired by vintage French work jackets, the Study Coat is an exceptionally comfortable and handsome unstructured blazer. With fully finished flat-felled seams throughout, the the fit is enhanced through the tailoring, featuring a casual square hem and long darts down either side of the placket. The minimally structured collar leans toward being worn up, but still folds down nicely should you want to dress the jacket up a bit.
It's made from Indi Ash's new handwoven ticking stripe fabric for Fall/Winter '24. Not too heavy, it's still suitably dense and robust, with virtually no stiffness at all due to the handwoven nature of the canvas body. The predominant yarns are hand-dyed black in an iron based natural dye, with acacia dyed and handspun ticking stripe yarns creating a pinstripe effect throughout. It also features a subtle slubby and inconsistent texture throughout, as a result of the varied yarn densities and lower tension handweaving process.
The whole thing closes up with antique bone buttons that compliment the fabric in both color and texture. Two patch pockets sit on the front of the jacket above the hem, with a single chest pocket on the outside and another on the inside for secret storage.
True to size with a relaxed fit. Wash cold and hang dry.
